Doug Goodkin @ Golden Gate Park – ‘Maple Leaf Rag’
Recently heard at the intersection of JFK Promenade and Blue Heron Lake Dr. in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, Maestro of piano and legendary piano teacher Doug Goodkin delivering this rendition of ‘Maple Leaf Rag’ – a ragtime composition written by Scott Joplin in 1899, perhaps named after the Maple Leaf Club in Sedalia, Missouri – where he played while studying music.
Doug Goodkin is featured in a PBS documentary called “The Secret Song” , chronicling the final months of his 45-year career teaching music to children in San Francisco.
